As the Olympics wind down I am proud of our showing but not to the degree I should be. For example, if we compare ourselves to our brothers and sisters to the north, we are a few degrees shy of "Great".

With a population ten times the size of  Canada we should have at least gotten ten times as many medals, but the medal count is 104 to 18. That is at least 76 medals shy just based on population alone. Then there is the all powerful money variable. The US government spends billions of dollars supporting our athletes not to mention corporate, private and educational donations. The Canadian athlete has relatively little monetary support. Couple that with the fact America has the best dopers, influence pedlars and corrupted officials, it's disappointing  we aren't over the 200 medal count this year. 

This Olympic season was a pretty good one for the Red White and Blue, but it definitely fell short of "Great".
