Hip Hop - 1979-2007

HIP HOP

1979-2007

A phenomenom that started in South Queens, New York, it would eventually hit mainstream in America, and a whole new form started in L.A. - Gangsta rap. Gangsta rappers would become the role model for kids all over the world. An East Coast-West Coast struggle lead to the murder of the 2 most respected rappers - 2PAC and Biggie.

Now, with gangsta rap in decline, a new hip hop would emerge -  infectious beat rap songs from the dirty South that lack lyrical content. But this hip hop would attract corporations, who only cared about cashing in millions, and the beats becam more infectious and the lyrics more pointless, until we woke up to a day when hip-hop was all about sex and bling-bling, and a clown named Soulja boy, would make a song that is lyrically empty, and only then would we say: Hip Hop is dead.

Is Hip Hop dead? No, just chillin underground. These underground rappers don't have producers like Timbaland, or a company that will promote them or pay 4 tours. Today's rappers - Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy - really don't compare to the rappers of the late 80's and 90's.
