Michigan's Butt Named Big Ten Tight End of the Year
Innuendo? More like in your end zone. With three touchdowns on the season, aptly-named Michigan tight end Jake Butt found himself in opposing end zones quite often this year. Butt also had 620 receiving yards on 48 catches, so you could say he usually took it pretty deep, too.
The Big Ten (universities, not butts) named the six-foot-six, 248 pound Michigan junior its top tight end on Tuesday. His defenders often looked like tiny pairs of panties - too small to cover Butt. He is now fourth all-time in school history with 89 receptions and fifth with 1,066 yards. Michigan legend Jack Clancy owns both records, as well as a much more boring name.
Butt is also six catches and 129 yards shy of Michigan’s single-season tight end record for catches and receiving yards, which is pretty tight. The yards mark is held by Devin Funchess - but just covering my ass here - Funchess played wide receiver as well.
It’s a funny headline, but an award Butt earned with hard work and stellar play. Besides, Mr. Butt was his dad’s name. Call him Jake.
