Last year I suffered a pretty extreme accident that basically destroyed my left knee and the lower leg bones that attach to and help articulate the joint.
Well the Surgeons told me they could install an artificial knee and reinforce my tibia and basically make my knee good as new. I was a good candidate mid 40's, good health, good physical condition and extremely motivated.
I gave the OK for the procedure and it was completed. The recovery was the most difficult and brutal thing I have ever experienced. I was in more pain than that caused by the accident and during the therapy and recovery things felt just a little bit off.. Don't get me wrong I was able to bear weight, walk and use my knee in ways that while not up to my old standards were at least functional. Again during this whole process I still kept reminding the MD that things didn't feel quite right and he kept reassuring me that complete recovery would take at least a year and at the end of that time all the issues should iron themselves out.
Well a year has gone by and I went for a follow up and progress meeting, I decided that after my meeting with him, where again I said that things weren't quite right, sore feet, inner thigh muscles always feeling like they want to cramp, Hip pain ,occasional back pain where I never had any before, and he reassured me that everything was going gang busters and I was in fact in the top percentile of people who had had a knee replacement with restructuring.
I didn't buy it and went to a different ortho guy affiliated with a major university and had him do an examination and assessment. His findings"
The ligaments in the joint never tightened correctly leaving me with a sloppy joint but the amount of exercise I do counters that. Poor Surgical technique
Here is his other finding.... That dickwad didn't bolt my leg back together straight, my foot is a few degrees pronated (pointing to the middle) and that explains all the feelings of incorrectness and the aches and pains I have been experiencing were a result of that. Extremely poor surgical technique
WHAT. THE. FUCK. I now have 2 options I can go through this brutal and painful surgery again and the 3 solid months of recovery, with no guarantee that things may be improved or I can just soldier on and suffer through it.
I can tell you 1 thing I'm going to do, sue that incompetent ass for the bullshit I have to go through.I just hope that the time and effort involved will be worth it (I signed a form agreeing to mediation by his peers in case of a problem instead of a lawsuit).
Well I may have shot myself in the foot over this but at least I will be doing something.
Thanks for listening.
Oh by the way, my cost for the procedure $ 70,000, I should have got a fuckin used Ferrari and hobbled around for the rest of my days.
