When Philadelphia police officers Sean Alivera and Christopher Luciano arrested a drug courier, they stole $300 in cash and $24,000 worth of marijuana. However, the man they robbed was an undercover police officer, and Alivera and Luciano were themselves arrested.
Sean Alivera & Christopher Luciano were the subject of a sting conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the PA District Attorney's office. Alivera and Luciano had apparently gotten close to a local drug dealer, and been robbing rival drug couriers on that dealer's behalf. This time, though, they were caught in the act.
Since 2009, 13 Philadelphia police officers have been arrested.
The crime was captured on video surveillance, said District Attorney Seth Williams. Alivera, 31, and Luciano, 23, were arrested shortly after 7 p.m. Monday at the 25th District headquarters, where they were assigned. They were charged with robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, and other crimes.
