With this little game I give you a description of a person, place or thing and you guess what it is. Don't use the internet to figure it out, if you can help yourself. If you think you figured it out put your answer in the comments then start one of your own. One guess only please. If no one gets it, I'll add another clue under an addendum, and you can give another answer.

It is among the oldest tools found by archaeologists, it has been found in very refined forms from settlements dating back to 5000 years ago in Persia. It can be made from a variety of materials, most commonly plastic, wood, tortoiseshell or ivory.

It can be used for securing, decorating or keeping religious adornments in place. Its mechanized version helped to usher in the industrial age with a machine known as the cotton gin.

Police forces use  them for ascertaining dead or living people's identities, as well as their state of health, toxicological profiles, and so forth.

They have inspired musical instruments. It can be used to increases the high-frequency harmonic quality of the hum produced by the human voice box. During warm summer months they are appreciated by any bowed instrument musician.

When it is picked, under certain configurations, it can produce harmonic qualities and can be evolved into a thumb piano or musical box.
