1.
Most reasonable people strive to have every first encounter be a good one. At the very least, they prefer that the person they just met doesn’t think of them in a negative light after meeting them, right? Sometimes, the things we do that leave a bad first impression are things we don’t do on purpose- here are a few things that you can fix. Weak handshake, avoiding eye contact- remember that introduction is important, be prepared. -
2.
Spelling. If your first meeting with someone is done via e-mail or text message, ensuring that you use proper spelling is, to most people, a great way to leave a good first impression. -
3.
Being sleep deprived. Meeting someone for the first time while looking extremely tired is an easy way to leave a poor first impression, unfortunately. Studies show that not only does lack of sleep make you look unhealthy and less attrative, people generally avoid people who look sickly even without knowing it. Furthermore, lack of sleep makes you grumpy, which doesn’t help. -
4.
Being stressed. When you are stressed out, your body is releasing a ton of hormones that can contribute to you pushing away potential partners in many ways. Also, being visibly stressed can cause stress for others, which isn’t a good scenario when you’re meeting someone for the first time. -
5.
Not having a hobby. A recent study has shown that it isn’t only good looks that attract people to people. Being active in a hobby is something that can help you leave a lasting first impression. -
6.
Smelling Odd. Your body odor changes depending on how healthy/unhealthy you are. People subconsciously are more attracted to people who “smell healthy” vs those who don’t. -
7.
Having bad teeth. Ensuring that you have a good oral hygiene routine is something that can help you out a lot as far as leaving a good first impression. Studies have shown that poor oral hygiene puts people off. Keep your mouth clean, it’ll help you out in more ways than one. -
8.
Being Rude. This one is easy. Just be a good person. Sure, most of us are pretty savage on the inside, but let that happen naturally over time. -
9.
Lack of confidence. Fake it til you make it. Studies show that women vastly prefer a man who is confident in himself vs a timid man who doubts himself. Walk with good posture, keep that chin up, be confident even if you aren’t. -
10.
Being lazy. Lazy people are not as successful as active people for a million reasons. When it comes to meeting a potential partner, psychologically, we are geared to be more attracted to people who are active.
