In an earnings call earlier this month, Kirk Tanner, the CEO of everyone’s quasi-last resort fast food joint, appeared to announce that his company would experiment with a new “dynamic pricing” model, one similar to surge prices employed by rideshare services like Uber and Lyft.

"Beginning as early as 2025, we will begin testing more enhanced features like dynamic pricing and daypart offerings along with AI-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling.”

While the brand ultimately clarified these claims, alleging their plans were “misconstrued in some media reports” — “We have no plans to do that and would not raise prices when our customers are visiting us most,” they shared in a blog post published on Tuesday – this walk back didn’t stop fast food fans of envisioning the WDTSE (Wendy’s Drive-Thru Stock Exchange).
