Wax figures are an art form that when done well, gets right at the essence of some of the most talented people in the world. But without a talented craftsperson, you end with a creation that is a cesspool of soulless eyes, toothy smiles, and mismatched features jumbled together that make you wonder if the sculpturist ever saw a reference photo.

There are probably more bad wax figures than there are good ones. It’s especially the case for wax figures of two of the most prominent female artists in the world: Taylor Swift and Beyonce. I don’t know what happens when someone attempts to make a wax figure of Taylor Swift. Instead of bringing to life the blonde-hair superstar born in 1989, some of the figures look more like a cockeyed waitress born in 1969.
