- Usagichan is right, we're on the same page here, I think these "wars" are retarded and we shouldn't be in them. However, as Usahichan pointed out, good soldiers do as they're told. We swore an oath to serve the best interests of the nation. The catch to that oath is, it's not for us to decide what's in the best interests of the nation. That power is wielded by the politicians, and it's granted to them by the American citizens we serve. The citizens elect them, and so they represent the will of the people. As such, we are sworn to serve and obey them, whether we agree with them or not. But the original argument was not what the world thinks of us, or whether these wars are just. It was nothing more than whether any military force on earth can compete with the U.S. military in terms of combat prowess, power, and military efficiency. You went way out in right field on an unrelated tangent. The truth is, we never actually disagreed about anything here XD

- And our objectives aren't military objectives, they're political ones. The military has had little trouble doing it's job (which is to keep the terrorists in check and out of the way of the politicians and their "nation building" efforts). It's the politicians who are failing to complete THEIR tasks. These wars won't be won or lost by the military, they'll be won or lost by the politicians. We're just the bouncers.

- Actually, an awesome report was released recently, I have to get the name of it for you so you can look it up. It actually highlights, using only ARABIC reporting sources to eliminate any accusation of bias, that over 90% of Al Qaeda's victims have been Arabic, and less than 5% have been western (this is across the globe, not only focusing on the warzones). Victims here meaning casualties killed in Al Qaeda attacks, including bystanders, and no not bystanders killed by our bombs, bystanders killed by theirs. Despite the hype, we very rarely drop bombs in close proximity to innocent bystanders, and when we do it's because there's a DAMN important target that we may not get another shot at, and it has to be cleared by the politicians. I mention this because you mentioned that "steady stream of casualties". Compared to previous ("real") wars, the U.S. casualty count here is a pittance. Not to cheapen the lives lost, each one is one more too many, but it's still nothing I would call an acc
