Facebook’s New Glasses Can Instantly Doxx People the Second You Look at Them

Facebook — or, uh, “Meta” — recently released yet another collection of its “smart glasses” collaboration with Ray-Ban.

The glasses, which hover around $300, allow wearers to take pictures, listen to music, and, oh yeah, doxx everyone they come into contact with. Whoops.

While the glasses aren’t supposed to be able to do this out of the box, several students at Harvard realized that they could hack the frames to allow them to use A.I. to monitor every face with whom it came into contact. Once a face had been found, it would search the internet for that face, then feed the information back to the wearer.

I don’t know about you, but I feel great about the future!

Two Harvard students just revealed how Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses can be used to dox anyone in seconds! Using facial recognition tools like PimEyes, they built a system called I-XRAY that instantly pulls up personal details like names, addresses, and phone numbers, all in real-time. Here’s how it works: - The smart glasses livestream video to Instagram - AI scans faces and cross-references public databases - The info is sent right to a phone app, revealing everything from relatives to home addresses! While the creators don’t plan to release the code, this shows how easy it is for bad actors to misuse current tech.
