There are currently protests going on in the Creggan area of Londonderry. These protests *technically* started due to the police’s reaction to allegedly finding a suspicious device, but a more honest explanation would require several pages worth of history about Republicans and Loyalists in Ireland. That’s probably not why you came here to Ebaum’s World, so instead, I’m just going to skip all that and focus on the nature of the protests.

In short, they’re insane. Children have allegedly been seen carrying petrol bombs, and as this video shows, some people have opted to take their anger against the police out on police vehicles by dramatically setting them alight. At this point, it’s just Irish tradition.
